After duplicating a cue, I found that deleting slides from one cue will delete it from the other too. This essentially nullify the idea of cue duplication. Is it possible to recover the deleted slides?

There isn't a recovery option. The cue is duplicated, not the items in the cue (background, foreground). To duplicate songs or slides, find the song or slide presentation from the menu at the top, right click, then duplicate.
